MezCredit Investments

A certificate of deposit (Fixed Deposit), is a fixed income vehicle that will be offered by MEZCREDIT with maturities of less than 5 years. It provides an interest rate premium in exchange for the customer agreeing to leave a lump-sum deposit untouched for a predetermined period of time. Top-paying certificates of deposit pay higher interest rates than the best savings and money market accounts in exchange for leaving the funds on deposit for a fixed period of time

  • The interest rate will be locked to provide a clear and predictable returns (subject to Central Bank policy) on the deposits over a specific period of time. This rate will not be changed; therefore, the investor will have constant earnings to his/her deposits.
  • The term will be the length of time the investor agrees to leave their funds deposited to avoid any penalty (1 month, 2 months, 3 months, 6-month CD, 12- month CD, 18-months CD, etc). The term ends on the maturity date when the CD has fully matured and withdraw the funds penalty free.
  • The principal is amount the investor agrees to invest as deposit and is given a certificate deposit. Therefore MEZCREDIT will determine the aspects of the agreement, such as early withdrawal penalties (EWPs) and whether the investor's CD will be automatically rolled over, if the investor doesn’t provide other instructions at the time of maturity.
  • Although the investor can lock into a term of duration when opening a Certificate of Deposit, there are options of early exit should an investor encounter an emergency of change of plan.
  • We could also have a short term fixed deposit of a minimum amounts to NGN 10,000 for a maximum of 1 year.
